Environmental & EMI/EMC Testing

The Environmental Testing Division at the Central Electronics Centre (CEC), IIT Madras, is equipped to evaluate the durability, reliability, and compliance of electronic and electromechanical components under simulated real-world environmental conditions. Our facility supports rigorous testing protocols to ensure products meet national and international standards across varied mechanical, thermal, and electromagnetic environments.

We offer comprehensive testing for temperature extremes, humidity, vibration, mechanical shock, corrosion, and other stress conditions using a suite of advanced chambers and instrumentation. Our EMI/EMC testing lab is equipped to assess electromagnetic interference and susceptibility, ensuring compatibility and regulatory compliance. In addition, our Vibration and Shock Testing capabilities allow dynamic analysis across frequencies up to 2000 Hz with accelerations up to 100 G, making us uniquely positioned to support the needs of automotive, aerospace, defence, and industrial sectors.

From thermal cycling to electromagnetic resilience, CEC’s environmental testing ensures your product can withstand the world it’s built for.

All tests are conducted in accordance with standards such as IEC 60068, ISO, JSS, QM, CISPR, FCC, and EN61000, and are supported by calibrated equipment including climatic chambers (-70°C to +180°C), programmable shakers, surge simulators, EMI receivers, spectrum analyzers, and more.

Whether the objective is to qualify products for deployment in extreme environmental conditions or to demonstrate compliance with international performance and reliability standards, CEC’s Environmental Testing infrastructure provides comprehensive, standards-based evaluation backed by scientific rigor and domain expertise.

Simulate Real-World Extremes

Test your products in conditions ranging from arctic cold to desert heat, mechanical shocks to prolonged humidity—ensuring readiness for any environment.

EMI/EMC Compliance Made Easy

Ensure your electronics meet international electromagnetic compatibility standards with our fully equipped EMI/EMC lab and expert analysis.

Precision Vibration & Shock Testing

Validate mechanical robustness with vibration testing up to 2000 Hz and shock acceleration up to 100 G—ideal for automotive, aerospace, and defense applications.

Standards-Driven Confidence

All tests are executed in strict adherence to global standards like IEC 60068, EN61000, CISPR, FCC, and JSS, supporting both qualification and regulatory needs.
