The Central Electronics Centre (CEC) at IIT Madras offers a comprehensive suite of testing services for energy storage systems and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Battery testing at CEC covers a full range of lead-acid, lithium-ion, and advanced chemistry cells. Tests include capacity, charge acceptance, retention, cold cranking performance, high-rate discharge, and endurance. The facility also supports evaluations of overcharge tolerance, vibration resistance, reverse capacity, and energy density, all critical parameters in automotive, backup power, and renewable applications.

Battery Management System (BMS) testing includes functional checks for protection features like overvoltage, overcurrent, thermal runaway, and cell balancing. These assessments are vital for ensuring system-level safety and reliability across diverse use cases.
