The Electronics & Safety Testing division at the Central Electronics Centre (CEC), IIT Madras, provides rigorous compliance testing for a wide spectrum of electronic and electrical products in accordance with national and international safety standards. This division plays a critical role in validating the operational integrity, electrical insulation, fault tolerance, and physical durability of devices intended for consumer, industrial, and IT applications.

The facility is equipped with specialized instrumentation including Electrical Safety Analysers, Hi-pot Analysers, Hot Air Ovens, Impact Testers, Glow Wire Apparatus, and IEC-standard test probes. CEC conducts a broad range of safety evaluations—ranging from electrical shock hazard and insulation resistance to heating tests, fault condition simulations, and protection against hazardous moving parts.

From insulation resistance to flame retardance, our safety testing services help ensure your products are built to withstand both fault conditions and regulatory scrutiny.

Additionally, the Flammability Testing suite supports glow wire, needle flame, horizontal/vertical flame, and tracking index testing. These are essential assessments for determining material resistance to ignition and preventing fire-related failures in electronic products.
